Razzamataz Theatre Schools is a UK-based theatre school that teaches dance, drama and singing at franchised locations. It was founded by Denise Hutton-Gosney in 2000 in Penrith, England.
Overview
Razzamataz Theatre Schools offers part-time training in dance, drama and singing together with lots of opportunities to perform. Classes are for children from age 2 to 18 and allow students to experience a range of performance styles from classic West End musical theatre to street dance, pop singing and acting for camera. Additionally, there are many added opportunities such as guest workshops with Diversity, the winner of Britain's Got Talent, West End theatre masterclasses and chances to perform at Her Majesty's Theatre, Indigo at the 02 and Disneyland Paris. There are currently almost 50 franchise schools throughout the UK.
History
Razzamataz Theatre Schools was established in 2000 by Denise Hutton-Gosney. Denise had been a professional dancer for more than 10 years, performing around the world on cruise ships, pantomimes and the London Palladium. Razzamataz became a franchise business in 2006 and the following year, Denise appeared on BBC's Dragons' Den and secured a £50,000 investment from Duncan Bannatyne for 25% in the company.
Classes
Razz Minis offers a fun yet informative introduction to the world of performing arts for 4-5 year olds and is based around 20 minutes each of singing, drama and dance. The main school consists of three hours of singing, dancing and acting offering a curriculum featuring Pop, Street Dance and Musical Theatre classes. The ethos of the company is for children to be inspired by performing arts to get fit, have fun and make new friends. Razz Junior sessions are created for 6 - 8 year olds. Razz Inters sessions are created for 9 - 11 year olds. Razz Seniors sessions are created for 12 - 18 year olds.
Additional products
As well as the main school classes, there are several new products including: Razz Tots: Classes for two and three year olds with their parent or carer. The classes are designed to improve confidence, improve social and motor skills and to provide a secure foundation for little one's development.
Razz Parties: A fun way to host a party for children. Parents, family and friends watch a short presentation at the end and children get a chance to perform. Ideal for those who want to be the king or queen of pop or a West End star.
Razz Project Intense: A class designed to support students who wish to pursue a professional career within the performing arts. Razz Project Intense will allow staff to teach in the specialist areas of dance to help build a strong technical skill base to equip the Razzamataz students with the correct guidance, skills and confidence to be better prepared for professional vocational college auditions.
Charity
As part of its commitment to its students, Razzamataz launched its registered charity Future Fund. Now in its third year (2017), the charity can assist with the financial side of training to a Razzamataz student in their final year of school looking to progress their performing ambitions. Students audition in front of a panel of industry experts to win funding to be put towards their college fees or to be used in connection with their training.

Razzamataz has had several high-profile partnerships including The Stage newspaper, First Choice Holidays, Love Cravendale campaign, Top Talent Agency, Arts Awards, Children's University, Universal Studios and Barbie, Eurocamp, Indigo at the 02 and Disneyland Paris.
